Jim O’Connell is a Compliance Analyst at Ceridian and Washington, D.C. veteran. Jim blogs about upcoming HR legislation, tax policy changes, employment law and compliance issues that affect employers, including health care reform, employee benefits, FLSA, employment taxes and more.

With more than 35 years of experience in federal legislative and regulatory affairs, Jim focuses on HR and payroll policy issues, keeping customers informed about fast-changing and complex compliance regulations and workforce trends. He has served as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., specializing in global business-government relations. Jim has been associated with Ceridian since 1982. Before joining Ceridian, he served in the U.S. Senate as Chief Legislative Assistant to New York Senator Jacob K. Javits and later with Connecticut Senator Lowell P. Weicker. Jim holds a Ph.D. in Economics from New York’s Fordham University.

Jill Barber is Ceridian’s Compliance Communications Program Manager and a 17-year veteran at Ceridian. In her current role, Jill is instrumental in clearly conveying complex regulatory language to our product teams and customers.  Drawing on her background in training and relationship management, she is a popular presenter at Ceridian’s annual customer conference. Jill has also led such initiatives as reporting for the Affordable Care Act and more recently state retirement programs. An amateur chef and avid cyclist, when Jill’s not collaborating with her peers or Ceridian customers, she’s cooking up a storm using fresh, local and sustainable ingredients or planning her next bicycle vacation.
